A Breath of Relief for Only a Second

She was relieved that she made it through the day and social event without too much trouble. She was glad there was something at the event to distract her – mahjong! She learned how to play the Chinese version of mahjong and was able to win a game as well. The games helped pass the time and made things less socially anxious since the games were only played with four players at a time.

It wasn’t until the end of the night that she discovered that her pet camera app never registered that she left home and the camera never turned on. The cats had fought this morning and her cat, Oreo, had hurt himself a little bit by getting his nail stuck in the cat tree. They had left the cats alone for 5 hours without the pet camera monitoring them. Usually the pet camera would send a notification if it detected movement, so if the cats fought again, they would know immediately. Now she only hoped the cats behaved and were fine. She felt guilty, thinking she should have checked the app sooner. Hopefully the cats were fine…

Tomorrow begins the birthday festivities for her and her partner. Her partner’s birthday was 3 days before hers.
