I trust the journey I am on – in my general life.
I have actually been having difficulty with my eyesight as I am trying Ortho-K contact lenses. I’m not so sure about this journey. It seems to alternate between getting better and worse each week. I am currently battling a lot of dryness in both of my eyes because of the lenses. My water intake is normal, my stress levels are currently better than usual, and I am using eye drops frequently (like every hour). The last time I stopped wearing the lenses for a night due to irritation in my right eye, my eyes weren’t dry and weren’t blurry from dryness the next morning, but of course, my vision was compromised. But I still felt better wearing soft contact lenses without the blurriness from dryness than seeing better with dryness. The dryness compromises my vision more than a lesser prescription.
I also have astigmatism and I honestly don’t think my Ortho-K lenses are designed to correct the astigmatism like my doctor says they are. My astigmatism appears to be constantly affecting me at night, which makes my drive home from work a little dangerous with the recent time change. Luckily, I just drive down one street for fifteen minutes to and from work so it’s not a difficult drive. Wearing soft lenses while driving at night does help with the astigmatism a bit, but I think that may just be the blurriness from dryness being corrected by a stronger prescription. It’s difficult because it’s hard to enjoy things when I can’t see them clearly, as opposed to just wearing soft contact lenses all day and being able to see clearly with them, without dryness. It’s also difficult when my eyes appear to fluctuate throughout the day from being able to see well to seeing worse randomly throughout the day. I was actually happy with the new soft contact lenses I had gotten before trying Ortho-K because they were for astigmatism as well (I believe they were Acuvue Toric lenses) and I was able to see exceptionally clearly when wearing them.
I have done everything that my doctor says I should for the Ortho-K process and it’s still not working well for me. Normally, you should be able to see clearly within two weeks. It’s been about three months and my vision still isn’t where it should be with the lenses. However, the doctor did warn me that these may not work because of my extremely high prescription (I started as -10.00 and I am now at about -3.50 since beginning the process). But my mom paid for a full two year service so I guess I should stick it out and maybe it’ll get better later on…
Well, aside from my eyesight, I do trust everything else that is going on in my life. Being a person that believes in fate, I trust the universe that I am on a journey that will lead me to happiness and freedom.
