As the year winds down, we begin to reflect on the past year, but since I have such a horrible memory, I usually can’t remember much from the past year. The main things I can remember are:
• Beginning a relationship with a 9-year long crush/high school crush
• Suicide attempt and accompanying psychiatric hospitalization
• Graduating from my Master of Legal Studies program
• Attending my first wedding & three subsequent weddings afterwards
• Receiving an abnormal pap smear result
But as the past year comes to a close, I don’t dwell on the past. What’s happened has happened and there’s nothing to change the past. Instead, I focus on the future and although I don’t generally make new year’s resolutions or annual goals, I do just have the general hope of a brighter future and I will put my heart and soul into making a better day tomorrow. That’s all I can possibly do and the only thing I can control: my mentality. So cheers to a new year!
