Sun(ny)day

Sometimes I get pretty stumped on what to write and I don’t want my blog just to be all moody thoughts. I do have good days, but rarely do I find the time to sit down and write about the good moments because I’m captivated in the moment of them. One thing I have been trying to improve on is my memory, though. It’s one of the main reasons why I wanted to begin journaling: so I can have a space to replay my day and practice jogging my memory. My grandmother passed away from Alzheimer’s and of course, my poor memory skills just remind me of that and the possibility that I’m next in my family. I don’t particularly mind the idea of dying young, but I mind the fact that I’ll forget things that are important. My grandmother’s Alzheimer’s had led her to getting lost and wandering the streets on her own one day and also pushing an entire sofa couch to barricade the front door because she believed one of my family members was an intruder.

So today, I decided to forgo laundry and push it until tomorrow since I already had a walk scheduled today and knew I’d be tired from that and didn’t want to make myself tired beforehand. I relaxed in my living room with my partner for several hours watching The Mentalist and playing mahjong solitaire to my joy. I enjoy the familiar vegetative state. My partner made breakfast for us which consisted of some scrambled eggs and a bagel with cream cheese for me. Carbs are my guilty pleasure. I love bread.

We then went to a coffee shop to hang out in before my walk. I enjoy hanging out in coffee shops while doing work. It’s therapeutic for me. I enjoyed a hot matcha latte with oat milk and honey vanilla sweetener from Recreational Coffee. I actually didn’t enjoy matcha-flavored drinks until recently, and Recreational Coffee has by far been the best version of a matcha latte I’ve had.

I went to walk the two miniature poodles that I normally walk every weekend. They were more easy-going today so it was an easy walk. I let them run around the grassy area by the beach sometimes (on leash still), but today they decided to chase each other in circles around me, effectively tying me up for a quick second. I didn’t think that would actually ever happen to me, but it was pretty amusing. It was a warm day today. There weren’t many clouds as there had been the past few days, so it was nice to relish in the sun for a bit. But the sun combined with a walk with two pups equals a gross, sweaty, sticky feeling.

Time to enjoy a nice, soothing shower.
