One of the ways that I know I’m happy is when my stomach doesn’t get upset. It’s a weird thing but ever since starting at the new office, I have had healthy bowel movements, my stomach hasn’t been upset by lactose, and I feel healthier and less bloated. The office is on the fifth floor and I (currently) can’t figure out how to get up the stairs. It seems the stairs are only an exit. But anyway, I’ve been taking the five flights of stairs for each break and going home, and I’ve been parking on higher levels of the structure to be able to use the stairs then too. The past two days I’ve been taken out for lunch and we walked to the restaurants each time.
Side note: We had lunch at Cluck Kitchen and it was so good. Their chicken is juicy and crispy, and not over-fried. The street corn fritters were a disappointment. There was literally only a single piece of corn in each fritter, BUT the cornbread dough was really good. I think if they just took out the corn, the fritters themselves would be a 10/10. It was the fact that it was advertised as street corn fritters that was the disappointment. I got the nuggets and the pieces were HUGE. When I read the menu and saw that only six pieces came with it, I was a little concerned it wouldn’t be enough food. But these nuggets were the size of tenders. And the tenders that a coworker got were the size of full strips. I was only able to eat three nuggets (along with the fritters) before I got full. It also wasn’t too expensive. I got the nuggets, fritters, and their house sweet tea, and it only came out to $17. I honestly expected it to cost more because it seems like such a unique restaurant – mostly the fact that it’s not a corporate franchise. Their sweet tea was also good. It wasn’t very sweet, which I didn’t like at first (I have a huge sweet tooth), but it definitely grew more enjoyable the more I drank it. Definitely a must-try for the Irvine area.
I like the fact that parts of the team are up for lunch on a whim and it’s a great way to get to know them. I learned that the attorney lives in South County – where the hell is that? And the paralegal I work with lives a city away and was right in my neighborhood this past weekend.
I’m happy. My body is happy.
