Idea: Day 2

Day 2 went just as well as Day 1! I’m honestly shocked. I didn’t think I’d keep up the act for two consecutive days. After work, I visited my city’s public library and got a physical library card and a physical copy of this month’s book for my book group. I was honestly, and still am, so stoked to have a physical library card and go to the library again. I used to go to the library after middle school with my aunt and cousin every Thursday (early release days). The public library in my city is actually a really nice establishment! I’m surprised. The library in my hometown became run down and eventually closed, so that was my most recent memory of libraries. Walking into the beautifully lit, creatively decorated, pristine and modern library last night was amazing. They even have a no-contact process for picking up books placed on hold.

After the library, I visited my local Sprouts, which honestly, I never liked shopping at Whole Foods or Sprouts or the like because it felt so pretentious. But I actually enjoyed this visit. I initially went to find soy milk, since I couldn’t get some the previous day, and a “barista blend” of soy milk that my coworker told me about. Of course, being me, I walked out with a lot more than that: frozen dumplings, tofu, tomatoes, cranberry juice, and TRUFF pomodoro sauce. I picked up the pomodoro sauce because I didn’t realize that TRUFF made pasta sauces. I also didn’t realize, of course, it’s TRUFF, it’s probably spicy. Lo and behold, it has red chili peppers in it, which I didn’t realize until after cooking dinner and tasting it. Upon opening the jar, the sauce did smell similar to salsa, so I guess that should have been my first hint. Actually – it’s TRUFF. That should have told me everything. My poor naïve, impulsive, self. It’s not that I don’t enjoy spicy foods, my stomach just can’t handle it. Maybe I have gastric ulcers from the mounds of hot cheetos I used to eat in my childhood. But any spicy foods nowadays just makes my stomach very upset. I frequently lose my appetite after eating food that is too spicy for my taste as well.

But I digress. The point was, I went to the grocery store in person after work and actually cooked dinner for myself for the first time in maybe a month? I also washed my hair last night, which is always a chore. Thick hair isn’t fun to wash, it takes forever – like at least 30 minutes just for hair. And my hair isn’t even long, it’s only medium length. I’m getting it cut this weekend by the way, which I am EXCITED for.

After dinner and massacring my stove (not really, just a few food splatters here and there), I cleaned all the dishes, hand-dried the dishes that were prone to water spots, and cleaned the stove?! For some ungodly reason, after doing all of that last night, a quick wipe-down of the stove was not sufficient for my sights and I cleaned my stove spotless (see featured image) sans the scratches characteristic of used apartment appliances.

I even did my full nightly routine before bed as well. My, my, do I dare say I’m proud of myself?
