Idea: Day 7

Optometrist appointment for my new ortho-k lens, which means my freedom is limited. These ortho-k lenses are so taxing on my eyes that I can’t wear them for too long and I can’t wear anything else but them, which means dryness & discomfort during the day while wearing them (until my prescription goes down a bit), and then taking them off right after work and being blind for the remainder of the night. No more spontaneous drives at night, or dinner dates. For two months. Ugh. These lenses are supposed to prevent my prescription from increasing and even reduce it, but the most change will only occur when wearing those lenses while sleeping because it changes the shape of your cornea, similar to braces. But my eyes are so sensitive and my prescription is so high that wearing them at night the first time around pushed my prescription down about 5-8 points so quickly that it caused irritation and it was too soon too fast. Now, I get to have perfect vision during the day but deal with the dryness Ortho-K causes through its process to reduce my prescription ever so slightly during the day. Ortho-K works best when your eyes are closed, according to my optometrist. When I first wore the lenses during the day, there was pretty much no difference in my prescription after three weeks and I’m highly reluctant to believe it will make any difference after two months. Especially when wearing normal soft contact lenses was much healthier for my eyes, no dryness or irritation.

Four loads of laundry. Tiring. But productive! Now to hermit and be a couch potato.
