Utah Adventure Begins

After an awfully busy, but not mind-numbing week of work, I am finally at the airport waiting for my flight to Salt Lake City to spend the weekend with a very good friend.

I love traveling. The excitement of exploring somewhere new, getting out of time, even just flying. I love being in airlines, contrary to popular opinion. I love flying over cities and looking at the beautiful ocean. Too bad it’s also contrary to popular opinion to open the windows in an airplane because everyone wants to sleep.

Separate and apart from the above, I’m glad I can share my apartment and have it be useful while I’m gone. I’m glad I have a space I can share with my firefighter for him to use at his disposal if needed. I’m always happy to be helpful.

I was singlehandedly working on notices and letters for the most part this week because the other paralegal got pulled to help open eviction cases this week, and it surprisingly didn’t feel overwhelming and I didn’t feel burnt out. Either I’m getting better at this, or somehow working alone helps. It definitely helps to not have to double check whether a case has been started already. I received a compliment this week from one of the attorneys I work the most with: “Girl you are KILLING IT!!!!” It’s such a small gesture but it means a whole lot to be noticed and appreciated, especially when I’m pulling a higher workload. I also, somehow, produced a higher volume of output than usual. I guess I also received a subtle compliment regarding my notices. We have a minimal amount that we bill per matter depending on how much work we’ve done on the case. I was billing some cases and the attorney chimed in saying I should bill more based on my awesome work product. It’s nice to work in a place where I’m actually noticed and not just another number or just being used to get the work done. It actually feels like being part of a team.

Now I can relax and decompress while watching airplanes land and take off with this huge glass wall in this airport.
