My Chronic Problem: Always Working

Whether it be at work or at home, I’m somehow always working on something. Conducting research for posts, conducting research for other reasons (like student loan borrower discharge), working on the blog or my other platforms – I feel like I never just stop, and it’s not until after I bring my head above the surface that I realize I spent 4+ hours researching or working on said project.

For example, I got home yesterday at 7:30 PM and conducted some research/legal research to make my case for borrower discharge of my student loans. It wasn’t until 11:00 PM that I finished and I didn’t even realize how much time passed. I didn’t really pay attention to anything else. I only ate a nectarine during this time. Once I resurfaced, I realized I was starving and ate some to hold me over so I wouldn’t stay awake from hunger.

Today, I got home around 7:20 PM and looked up information for shipping/mailing for some product ideas I have. I am barely now realizing that I went down a rabbit hole.

I need to force myself to at least eat dinner before I do these things. I’m always either too productive or not productive, I don’t think I’ve ever found an in-between.

I can relate to working to the point you lose time and also forget to eat or eat properly. An easy solution for me was to set an alarm for maybe 2 hours. Once the alarm went off, I would take a break.
You might find this YouTube video interesting. He talks about what brain type you have in terms of studying using a short quiz. It can also apply to how you approach life tasks. Once you find out your brain type, you’ll be directed to the relevant video telling you tips and tricks to manage things better.

Thank you! I definitely need to work better on my discipline. Sometimes I’ll have a timer set for every 25 minutes, but I just end up snoozing it.

Haha! Sometimes I’ll ignore the alarm too! Hope the video helps. I think we’re just the type that really focus on getting things done. Just need to remember to look after ourselves sometimes.
