Alcohol

Why do we do that? Numb life’s most joyous, most vulnerable most powerful experiences with alcohol – why do we do that?

Grey’s Anatomy, Jackson Avery, Season 15, Episode 1

I’m not one of those people and was never really into drinking alcohol. And I’m sorry to say, I don’t enjoy being around people when they drink, him especially. I don’t like the smell of alcohol and become nauseous just at the smell. So I don’t enjoy being in a place surrounded by it, surrounded by other people drinking. I don’t enjoy babysitting drunk people. I don’t enjoy drinking and I prefer to be around people who don’t like to drink either.

So maybe that’s also a sign we shouldn’t be together. Maybe that means I do go after the guy that doesn’t drink either.

I used to be a drunk, but stopped drinking 6+ years ago. I abhor being around drunk people. When people’s voices thicken with alcohol, I feel disgust. I don’t share this with anyone because it makes me feel like a massive hypocrite. Feels nice to get it off my chest.

I’m honored that you chose my post to share your true feelings. Congratulations on your ongoing sobriety. You have grown and you have learned, and now you have new preferences from that growth. It may make you feel like a hypocrite, but to me, I see growth and development. You’ve been down that path yourself and you know the better choices from that journey.
Thank you so much for sharing!
